Recipe: Sweet and sour pork
Ingredients
600g pork thin pork loin steaks
2 eggs
6 tablespoons cornflour
1 tablespoon oil
1 large onion
Small tin of pineapple chunks
1 red pepper, cubed
1 cup (250ml) rice vinegar or white vinegar
Half cup of ketchup
1 cup of sugar
2 tablespoons of oil
Method

Method
- Cut the pork into cubes and put into a bowl with 2 beaten eggs. Add 4 tablespoons of cornflour. Stir with a metal spoon until the meat is coated.
- Heat a wok on a high temperature. Add the onion and cook for a minute or two. Add the red pepper. Then add the vinegar, the ketchup and sugar and pineapple chunks. Bring to the boil and then simmer.
- Mix 2 tablespoons of cornflour with 2 tablespoons of water and add it to the sweet-and-sour mix. Continue to simmer until you have a thickened sauce. Turn off the heat and set aside.
- Heat oil in a frying pan and cook half of the pork cubes over a medium heat until they are brown and crisp. Remove from pan and cook the remaining pork in the same way.
- Moments before serving combine all the pork and pour over your sauce and reheat until bubbling.
Serves 4 people
