Marianne Breslauer

"Interessiert hat mich nur die Realität, und zwar die unwichtige, die übersehene, von der grossen Masse unbeachtete Realität."
“What interested me was reality ... more precisely, the unimportant reality, the reality most people overlooked.”
Marianne Breslauer (1909-2001) was a German photographer during the Weimar Republic. Her female portrait photographs are my absolute favourites. She photographed her friends, women like herself, who imbibed the spirit of the modern woman which took root in the 1920s.
