Recipe : Spagetti Bolognese
I've got this cracked for my fussy eaters as the tomato sauce is smooth with no bits of onions or other "nasty" vegetables.
Ingredients to serve 8 (or for 4 eat and freeze for another meal)
- 500 g Steak Mince
- 1 large onion
- 2 tins of tinned tomatoes
- 2 peppers (you can very easily sneak in other veggies, I like to add courgette and mushrooms)
- 2 cloves of garlic
- Salt & pepper for seasoning
- Good splash of Worcestershire Sauce
- tsp dried basil
- Good squeeze of tomato puree
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tbsp olive oil
Method
- Brown the minced steak and put into a colander with a bowl underneath to drain off excess fat.
- In my casserole dish I then add the olive oil and fry the onion, vegetables, Worcestershire Sauce and garlic. Add the tinned tomatoes and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Ladle this mixture into a blender and whizz until smooth.
- Pour back into pan and add mince. Simmer for 30 minutes.
- Season to taste with the salt pepper. Add a teaspoon of sugar if too acidic.
- Boil up water for the spaghetti adding salt and a dollop of olive oil. Add the spaghetti and boil for 1 minute. Turn the heat setting to the lowest setting, cover and leave for 10 minutes.
- Serve with crusty bread and grated cheese.
