Tips for domestic bliss : Cleaning a stinky microwave

To degrease and get rid of any nasty smells you need to make up a 50-50 solution of water and vinegar (250ml is enough). Place in a heatproof microwavable bowl and bring to the boil by cooking for 5 minutes.

The acid from the vinegar will cut any grease and also take away any smells.

To be extra thorough, make up a bicarbonate of soda and water mixture and throw in a clean cloth. Ring out and then give the microwave interior a quick wipe down.

And voila! You will have a lovely fresh microwave.
