Save our libraries!

Books are for all, not just the wealthy. The British government  is slashing public spending and the nation's public libraries are next on the list with around 400 threatened with closure.
What I want to know is why the councils proposing the most cuts are exactly in the poorest areas of the country while wealthy middle class areas are protected. How can this be fair and live up to Cameron's "we're all in this together"?
I would say there is a fairly high percentage of families with young children like me who will not be in any financial position to purchase all the books that a young reader in their family might like to try.
And of course it is not just about books. For many people the library offers the only internet access available to them as well as being a social meeting place.

I hope it is not too late.
