Finding the perfect combination : Food and wine

I don't know about you but when I prepare a special meal at home or in a restaurant I like to have a glass of wine.
Want I wanted to know is if your choice of  wine or enhances or heavens forbid, clash with your food. What do you think? I found this very useful BBC Good Food article.

YES with Thai  food, award winning Riesling from Dr. Loosen
I tested the theory last night with a spicy but light Thai Green curry. It was amazing because even though I enjoy and eat Thai food quite often, the sweet Riesling wine made the delicate spices and lime "pop".
Does anyone know any other perfect food and drink matches?
