A lovely evening was spent at the theatre with a friend watching Beauty and the Beast, the new production by
Northern Ballet . The costumes, set design, orchestra, choreography were all first class. I'm glad it was an adaptation of the original fairy tale and not a Disney version as you do need some dark parts, don't you agree?

I have to talk about the theatre itself. Built in 1875 and a Grade 2 listed building it has a cosy rather than stately ambience and seats just 1500 people.
