We spent the weekend up in the beautiful and wild Northumberland coast visiting Lindisfarne (Holy Island), Bamburgh, Berwick upon Tweed, Seahouses, taking a boat cruise to see the wildlife living on the Farne Islands and a stop at Alnwick Castle.
We walked on the beach at twilight with a very strange cloud formation over us (it looked like a fleet of UFOs), tracked down
Singing Hinnies at a bakery, discovered a wonderful new Northumberland blue cheese called "
Darling Blue" and drank Alnwick ale and a Foxy Blonde with fish and chips in the pub. Ahhhhh.... it was a fine weekend.

Driving across the causeway to Linisfarne. I checked the tide table for safe crossing time but this still felt a little bit "Indiana Jones-ish" to me. |
